How to be more photogenic? Relax, Be happy, Be naturally YOU!!

I have been asked by several clients and friends – How can I be more photogenic? This question comes up especially with brides. The best answer I can give is – Cake on a ton of makeup and let photoshop do the rest!!! Just kidding!!!! I am REALLY only kidding – that is definitely not the answer!

Not everyone likes to get their picture taken. Some people think they need to be a model or a celebrity to look good in photos. Not true. YOU can look your best in photos just by being relaxed, happy, and natural.

Relax, be happy, be natural – whether its your wedding day or a simple portrait session in your home you will be more photogenic if you just follow these 3 things. Im not going to give you a list of ways to make yourself look better by changing your appearance- you are who you are, and thats what we want to capture!

1. Relax- Don’t put on a fake smile, the camera sees right through it. This is one of the reasons why people like candid photos of themselves so much. You are relaxed- you don’t know the cameras on you. You may not even care that the cameras on you after a while! So take it easy, relax its your day!

2. Be Happy – Some brides get nervous during posed pictures – they are wondering how they are going to come out in the pictures, again- RELAX – This is one of the happiest days of your life, let everyone know it! I want you to show me how happy your are that you are marrying your soul mate! I’ll do the rest by capturing those emotions!

3. Be Natural – Most people think its easier said than done. Maybe to some it is. You just need to be yourself. Don’t be afraid to laugh at the corny joke I may tell you, or even laugh at me- I can be a big kid sometimes.. All in all – don’t be afraid to be yourself. Again this is the one of the most happiest day of your life. With out even thinking about it just by following step 2, you are being natural by being happy – naturally..

Of course there are many different poses that will be more flattering for some people, clothes that are more flattering for some people, blah, blah, blah.. but the key to a good picture is to be you, let your true emotions of the day shine through! I will do the rest!
